The Age of Technology

I’m sure we’d all like to think we’re not dependent on technology, that if the internet suddenly crashed we would survive, but it’s not until it’s gone that you realise how much we use it. Last week I lost my phone, and although I got a replacement within a day I was surprised how difficult those 12 hours were. I was lucky enough to get my phone back 8 days later, however I forgot to send myself the last few blog photos before I did, so apologies for the delay. But I’m back now and will be holding onto my phone with a Vulcan claw grip.

Busy Busy

Some days I am so busy I barely have time to sit down, let alone write a blog. This week I think I have spent a total of about 30 mins actually sitting at my desk. From past experiences I have learnt that when I’m this busy skirts and dresses are a bad idea, but these super stretchy pants are perfect for running around the office and the city with no risk of showing the whole world my underwear.

Purple & Print

I am doing my best this week to get out of the awful rut I have been in. As well as putting together some slightly more inspired work outfits, I’m making an effort to keep my room cleaner, do my laundry more often, eat healthier and wash my face every night before bed. Just a few days in and I am feeling entirely cleansed and ready for a summer filled with backyard beers and music festivals.

Short Lived Summer

“Go home Melbourne, you’re drunk!”

The number of times I have said this (both in my head and out loud) in reference to Melbourne’s weather of late is ridiculous. Yesterday hit a top temp of 35 degrees and didn’t drop much at all until about 9am this morning. Despite the temp now dropping rapidly, I did get the opportunity yesterday to wear my first real summer outfit of the year. I look forward to lots of light fabrics and open shoes as the temperatures become more frequently over 30 (and even 40).

Outfit: Ben Sherman Shirt Dress (Myer, $25) & Misshop Heels (Myer, $10)

Ad Inspiration

In the last few weeks I have felt a little uninspired when it comes to clothing, mainly because Melbourne is caught in this odd weather where it’s 8 degrees when you leave the house, 35 degrees at lunchtime and raining by the time you head home. Earlier this week, however, I got a little inspiration from a new Myer Ad.

So there is a good chance the outfit she is wearing cost well over $500, but I managed to recreate the look with much cheaper items I already had in my wardrobe.
Take that advertising! – there will be no tempting me this week…..well….maybe a little…

Monday Comfort

As with most things in my life, I’m a little behind on my blogging. This outfit from Monday was a super quick and easy throw together (can’t go wrong with black and grey) and is incredibly comfortable. The only issue with this jersey skirt is that as it gets warmer I will have to stop wearing stockings, leaving me susceptible to all manner of awful lumps and bumps (even I have them!). Maybe I should try get in shape for summer?

Warm Friday Night

When it gets around to Friday my biggest goal is to make the time between finishing work and having my first drink as little as possible. Last Friday I managed to combine the two, working an extra few hours that happened to involve a glass of wine and a cider. The weather was so incredibly warm that I then headed straight to my friends to continue the evening.

As it was still 30 degrees at 8pm I decided to ditch the tights and blazer while we enjoyed beers on the rooftop (til 2:30am!) and then headed out dancing.
