Friday Nights, not Festivals

On the weekend I was meant to head off to my fifth and final festival of the season. Unfortunately I have been far too busy so I decided to sell my ticket and have a weekend at home instead.

I wholly intended not to go out, to stay at home and do all those things I’ve been putting off, like doing my laundry and cleaning up my room. But by the time I finished work on Friday I desperately needed to let off some steam – which I did in my usual fashion of a few (too many) drinks and some serious dancing.

It’s been a while since I got really dressed up and I was particularly excited about using my new Poppy Lissiman clutch for the first time.

Outfit: Jacket (Target, $30), Dress (BooHoo, $20), Bag (Poppy Lissiman, $85) & Heels (Target, $15)

Golden Plains

Firstly, apologies for the terrible mirror shot, but this is the only picture I have of me in any of my outfits from Golden Plains Music Festival (GP) that was held over the long weekend.

This year was my 4th GP and it is definitely one of my favourite festivals. The crowd is very relaxed, everyone is having a great time and with 4000 less people than it’s sister festival, Meredith Music Festival, it’s much less crowded. In the frenzy of Birthday celebrations last week I didn’t get the time to follow my usual festival prep (read about it here) which unfortunately meant my digital camera was out of batteries, but I did take two disposable cameras with me which I hope to get developed and post soon.

Festival summary:

Highlights: Conor Oberst, Courtney Barnett & dancing on a hill away from the crowds at 4:30am

Most WTF moments: The Village People & glitter in places glitter should never be (thankfully not on me)

Downside: Everyone at work is refreshed from the long weekend and I’m still in recovery mode.

Outfit: CottonOn Hat (Ozsale, $3.50), T-Shirt (MBK Thailand, free!), Shorts (Thailand, $4), Frilly Socks (Ozsale, $3) & Shoes (Vintage, from mum)

The Festival Feeling

It has been just over 2 months since my last Music Festival and I’m definitely missing it. For the long weekend I’m off to Golden Plains Music Festival, the fourth of five festivals I’m attending this season. What better way to get in the mood then sneaking a cheeky festival T-Shirt into my work wardrobe. Thankfully not many people noticed and my boss even said I had a “groovy outfit”.

Outfit: Blazer (Jacqui E, $50), T-Shirt (Lawsfest 2014, $10), Pants (Thailand, $10) & London Rebel Heels (Opshop, $4)

More Festival Fun

My final outfit from last weekend, and probably my favourite, is this crop top and overalls combo. These tie dye, lightweight overalls are definitely going to be a staple this festival season. They are cool, comfy and relatively sun smart. They also went great with my volunteer Tshirt (not pictured).

Outfit: Diva Headband (Ozsale, $3), CottonOn Sunnies (Ozsale, $3), Crop Top (Supre, $5), Overalls (Thailand, $7) & Jellies (Rubi, $5)

Trends aren’t for Everyone

Luckily for me I have been blessed with a small frame and a flat stomach, which is particularly good as crop tops are well and truly in this season. I’d normally pair a crop top with something high waisted, but when I’m at a festival all modesty is gone. The other tip I would like to pass on from this outfit – when it comes to festivals, you can never have too much floral!

My Favourite Season

Yes! It’s finally here! The season I spend all year talking about, waiting for and planning and here it is! No it’s not summer, it’s festival season.

This year I kicked off the season with Queenscliff Music Festival from Friday 28 Nov to Sunday 30 Nov. Starting on the Friday did mean that I had to go straight from work, but I managed to put together this outfit that just needed a change from trousers to Jeans (plus a few accessories) to go from office to festival grounds.

So now it’s one festival down, 4 to go!

Outfit 1: Blazer (Portmans, $50), Top (Savers, $3), Trousers (Kmart, $15) & Booties (Kmart, $19)

Outfit 2: Diva Headband (Ozsale, $3), CottonOn Sunnies (Ozsale, $3), Cardi (Vintage) & Jeans (CottonOn, $50)

Eight (and three quarters)

That’s the approximate age I feel in this outfit. For those who follow me, you may have seen a sneak peek of this outfit on my Instagram yesterday. I can definitely see these amazing Tie Dye overalls making frequent appearances over the coming months, particularly festival season. Last night was so mild in Melbourne I decided to give them their first outting on my walk to Fitzroy. I decided to embraced the small-child-feeling they give me by matching it with some pig tails and a back pack.

Outfit: Tshirt (Supre, $8), Back Pack (Kmart, $19), Overalls (Thailand, $7) & Sandals ($10)
