Get the Look – Working Suits Me

I talked about how wonderfully versatile a black blazer and pencil skirt are in my Back in Black – Work post. The same can be said for a flattering, classic pant suit. Whether you prefer wide leg like here, or a slimmer style like here, they are a staple in the office wardrobe.

I would love to invest in a custom tailored suit (shame they aren’t as affordable as jeans), but I’ve found plenty of affordable options by keeping my eye out for a bargain. I’ve found awesome suits at places like Portmans, Review (check the outlet stores for big discounts) and Myer. The Tokito range at Myer has heaps of options at great prices and the Jacket and Pants shown above are currently ON SALE, making the suit under $80!

Pair the suit with a crisp shirt to feel like a boss in the office or you use them as individual pieces to mix and match within your wardrobe and create a range of looks. My only fully matching pant suit only made it’s first appearance recently (here), but I’ve done this heaps with the skirt suits in the past, like in the examples below. (whoa! my photo game has seriously improved.)

Three outfits for the price of one? Sounds good to me!

I always think going black is a practical choice (is it obvious yet that I wear ALOT of black?), but there are heaps of options out there in different cuts, colours and patterns. Find something you know you will wear for years to come, that makes you feel fabulous and works with your wardrobe.

Navy & Black

Prior to working in an office I don’t know if I even owned a navy article of clothing, and if I did I certainly didn’t wear it often. Now-a-days I wear something navy at least once a week. This super simple navy, jersey skirt has become a staple in my work wardrobe that I don’t know what I would do without. A matching navy print top and all black accessories, I felt powerful and sexy – I guess that explains the smug look on my face!

Touch of Red

I’m still keeping my festive-ness relatively low key, with this outfits touches of red. These cute bow earrings are super cute for anytime of year, not just Christmas. My favourite part of this whole look are these great shoes, with red soles to match (and without the Louboutin price tag).

No Assembly Required

As much as I love the achievement of assembling a fantastic outfit out of nothing, there is a wonderful feeling of having a few pieces that are simple and stylish. That you can just chuck on and not have to match anything to to make an outfit.

This floral print dress is one of my favourites in this category. No matter how many times I wear it I always get compliments on it and I often wish I had 100 more like it so I would never have to plan an outfit again.

It’s has been almost a year since I first started EK’s Daily Dress and I recently got my 50th follower. After having a bit of a scroll throw previous posts to see how things have changed I noticed I’ve managed to miss posting about an outfit I wear almost everyday.
This great coat was bought with a voucher I received for my 21st birthday and has been my favourite ever since!

Proudly Professional….

09.10.2013So I’m still one day behind on the posts.

This outfit is from yesterday when it was about 28 degrees in Melbourne.

With weather like that it was about time I got my legs out.

OK, so they aren’t my real legs, but the are stockings instead of tights!

I’m pretty happy with this outfit, particularly because my boss told me how professional I look.

The skirt was $10 from Kmart. It’s just a simple jersey skirt, but it has a really cool feather print on it.
This nice crisp white shirt and grey Tokito Jacket (part of an awesome suit, but the pants need to be taken up) compliment the colours of the skirt and keep the look very corporate.

Finally, the shoes. I actually wore them this time! They look super cute and I got heaps of comments on them :), unfortunately (as new shoes go) I had to change into flats at home time and I have a couple of blisters, but I think 2 more wears and they will be perfect!

Keeping up the colour…

24.09.2013I’m feeling very colourful this week.

I think it’s the combination of the lovely spring weather that is beginning and all the exciting things coming up soon 🙂

Keep my usual plain black on the bottom half allows me to be a little more crazy on the top today.
This Tokito to ($20 from Myer) is extremely comfortable and has a great graphic print.

I decided to pick up the pink in the top with this cute cropped cardi (nice alliteration). I got it from Sportsgirl years ago. It is very girly, but it’s the perfect light weight for spring when you want your arms covered but don’t really need much extra warmth.

My hair has finally settled down after I washed it, so it’s goodbye high-pony and hello hair out 🙂
